{"id":1860,"date":"2011-05-24T01:50:14","date_gmt":"2011-05-24T05:50:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.synth-studio.com\/blog\/?p=1860"},"modified":"2011-05-24T01:50:14","modified_gmt":"2011-05-24T05:50:14","slug":"random001","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.synth-studio.com\/blog\/audio-music\/random001\/","title":{"rendered":"A random MIDIviaNet session with Andre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A couple nights ago my friend Andre and I were messing around with MIDIviaNet, he was tapped into my Korg X5DR.<\/p>\n<p>What the heck is MIDIviaNet???\u00a0 It&#8217;s a cool little app that allows you to connect to a MIDI device over the Internet!<\/p>\n<p>How does that work?\u00a0 Well, MIDIviaNet only sends\/revieces MIDI data, not actual audio.\u00a0 In order for Andre to hear the sound that was coming out of the synth from across the Atlantic, we used a really long Dixie-Cup Phone&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;what?<\/p>\n<p>Ok, we used TeamTalk!\u00a0 What does that mean?\u00a0 The short version is, Andre plays music from his place, I hear it &#8220;live&#8221;, and then he hears it a few seconds later because of the various delays involved in the process of sending the TeamTalk audio.\u00a0 So to do this and play anything coherent requires a fair amount of work knowing how to keep\u00a0your timing!\u00a0 Or you can have a &#8216;substitute&#8217; sound respond to you live at the &#8220;player&#8217;s side&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, what follows is the result of all\u00a0that.<\/p>\n<p>I also\u00a0made a quick remix\/song from one bit which is pretty cool.\u00a0 Enjoy!<\/p>\n<p class=\"audioplayer_container\"><span style=\"display:block;padding:5px;border:1px solid #dddddd;background:#f8f8f8\" id=\"audioplayer_1\">Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip.
