{"id":1154,"date":"2009-12-21T21:16:17","date_gmt":"2009-12-22T01:16:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.synth-studio.com\/blog\/?p=1154"},"modified":"2009-12-21T21:16:17","modified_gmt":"2009-12-22T01:16:17","slug":"fantom-xr-tricks-0001","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.synth-studio.com\/blog\/audio-music\/fantom-xr-tricks-0001\/","title":{"rendered":"Fantom XR Tricks: Guitar Amp Sim with &#8220;Flanger&#8221; Using 1 MFX."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This post has been in draft form for a few weeks now, I felt like trying to do something more with it, but now am just posting it as is&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>I was working on a new guitar patch for my Fantom XR, generally messing around really, and I was shocked to realize that I can not apply a flanger effect to it after the &#8220;Guitar Amp Sim&#8221; effect in &#8220;Patch Mode&#8221;.\u00a0 I knew that I could only use one MFX in patch mode, but I guess I am just used to my old faithful SC-8850 which could do true flanger using it&#8217;s &#8216;chorus dsp&#8217;.\u00a0 Now some of you might say &#8220;well just use performance mode and do an MFX chain!&#8221;, that&#8217;s well and good only if you don&#8217;t plan on using the other MFX units for something else!<\/p>\n<p>So, I came up with a workaround using Chorus on the Fantom.\u00a0 It&#8217;s the same old trick, but it works.\u00a0 Here are the basics of it:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Setup your Guitar Amp MFX however you like.<\/li>\n<li>Set your Guitar Amp MFX &#8220;Chorus Send Level&#8221; to 127<\/li>\n<li>Set your Chorus to &#8220;01:Chorus&#8221; and start with the settings below.\n<ul>\n<li>Output Level:\u00a0 32<\/li>\n<li>Filter Type:\u00a0 off<\/li>\n<li>Cutoff Freq:\u00a0 8000 Hz<\/li>\n<li>Pre Delay:\u00a0 0.0 msec<\/li>\n<li>Rate:\u00a0 0.10 Hz<\/li>\n<li>Depth:\u00a0 54<\/li>\n<li>Phase:\u00a0 0 deg<\/li>\n<li>Feedback:\u00a0 72<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I made a guitar patch based on the &#8220;Fingr Tap&#8217;n&#8221; patch from the SRX-03 Studio SRX board I called &#8220;Priest HiWay&#8221; using the technique above.<\/p>\n<p>Here is a short clip of me screwing around on my keyboard with it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"audioplayer_container\"><span style=\"display:block;padding:5px;border:1px solid #dddddd;background:#f8f8f8\" id=\"audioplayer_1\">Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip.
